This Statutory Meeting is being held to discuss the Official Plan and Zoning By-Law Amendment for the Future Essex Sports Field lands.

Mayor Bondy called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM.

We acknowledge that this land is the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations (comprised of the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi Peoples), and of the Huron-Wendat Peoples. We value the significant historical and contemporary contributions of local and regional First Nations and all of the Original Peoples of Turtle Island who have been living and working on the land from time immemorial.

There were no declarations of conflict of interest noted at this time.

RE: Official Plan and Zoning By-Law Amendment - Future Essex Sports Field Lands

Rita Jabbour, Manager of Planning Services presented Council and the Public with details for a proposed Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment to incorporate the future Essex Sports Fields lands into the Settlement Area as well as redesignate and rezone the lands from "Agricultural" to "Parks and Open Space" to allow for both public and private recreational uses and facilities.

    That the presentation from Rita Jabbour, Manager, Planning Services, and correspondence received from circulated agencies, be received.

Delegates Ron Mcguire and Glen Mills expressed their views on sports and recreation amenities in the area and were generally in support of the proposed amendments and look forward to seeing the property be utilized to its highest potential.
